The cold, dark days of early January might not seem like the ideal time to hold a corporate event or celebration, but that doesn’t mean you should dismiss the month completely. In our experience, January has proven to be a very popular month to hold an event. We have hosted product launches, awards ceremonies and staff parties throughout January for a variety of businesses.
Read on for our 5 reasons why we think January could be the perfect month for your next corporate event.
1. Christmas in January
If you work in the hospitality industry, then you and your staff have probably spent the last few weeks working hard to make Christmas party season a success for your customers. The calmer days of January make for an ideal time to reward your staff with their own Christmas party. To make the party work for your business, and to ensure all your staff can attend, why not organise it for one of your quieter days and times? For example, if Mondays tend to be quiet, why not choose to start your party on a Monday afternoon? Your team can then have the choice of partying through to the small hours or leaving in the early evening if they prefer an early night.
2. Celebrating Success
Starting the year with a Gala Dinner or awards ceremony is a great way to celebrate the successes of the previous year. As well as treating your team to an evening of fine dining, hosting a company awards ceremony will help ensure your staff feel valued within the business. It will also give your team something to look forward to in one of the quieter months of the year.
3. New Year, New Products
We know that many industries choose to shut down completely over Christmas and new year to give all staff an extended holiday after a busy year. As your team return to work full of enthusiasm for the year ahead, why not make the most of this by holding a new product launch day for any products or innovations which you are planning to roll out. Staff should be feeling refreshed, engaged and ready to take on lots of new information for the year ahead.
4. Kick Off the Year in Style
Your business might not have any new products or innovations to launch this year, but you might have other reasons for getting the team together in January. Holding a kick-off meeting is a great way to communicate your business objectives for the year ahead. You could also choose to add on a gala dinner or awards ceremony to your event to truly reward your staff.
5. Banish the Monday Blues
The third Monday of January is often referred to as “Blue Monday” as it was thought to be one of the saddest days of the year. Whilst many people might dispute this idea, the lack of daylight and the fact that pay day still feels a long way off, are two reasons why the middle of January could make people feel “blue”.
As a business owner, why not turn “Blue Monday” into “Brilliant Monday” by organising an event for your employees? Depending on the type of business you run you could use the day for a belated Christmas party; team building exercises or as a learning and development day.
